From Sabbath to Sinatra

Submitted by musiclikedirt on August 21, 2008 – 1:04 pmOne Comment

I’ll be back in full verbose rambling form soon but for now a couple of cutups from opposite ends of the musical spectrum, Frank Sinatra and Black Sabbath.

DRUMS OF DEATH

His first album’s due on Hot Chip’s Greco-Roman International Sonic Wrestling label at the turn of the year and Drums Of Death’s building the buzz with a new EP along with what he’s calling a “Black Sabbath Blend Bootleg Of Ginormous Proportions“.

Visit here to nab DoD’s superb Roots Manuva remix, or head to his myspace to listen to more and find out about the soon to come EP.

STEINSKI Vs. SINATRA

The Village Voice website has a worldwide exclusive Frank Sinatra mix courtesy of Steve Stein aka Steinski.

Megamix’s are often slapped together on a laptop in a few hours, but Steinski crafts his with love and you can hear every hour of the two months research, mixing and remixing it took to bring you “What Was Raymond Doing With His Hands? (A Soundtrack for a Real Swinger of a Nightmare)“.

Visit Village Voice to read the story behind the mix, and how while recovering from surgery he decided to delve into Sinatra’s work.
Also check out their full interview with Steve looking back at his place as one of the legendary figures in Hip-Hop.
