Kid Koala Presents The Slew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s right 18 exclamation marks, a bakers dozen of Mr Timothy Westwood’s explosions and I still don’t feel I’m over-egging the excitement of discovering Kid Koala’s long awaited “The Slew” LP – A: exists and B: is available for FREE download!

The three “Slew Test” tracks were the undoubted highlights of Koala’s 2006 “Your Mom’s Favourite DJ” album, and live they’ve unleashed the closest thing to moshing a hip-hop crowd can manage without losing their low slung jeans.

North American live dates featuring 6 turntables and Wolfmothers former Rhythm section were announced a couple of days ago, then today (Sept 02) this simple posting on the Nufonia website:

All in all it’s enough to make Whispering Bob Harris shout, leave Tommy Vance rocking back and forth bellowing “Classic Cuts! and set Zane Lowe off looking up this Koala dude on Wiki.

The Slew project began as a psych-rock influenced score for a documentary film that never actually made it out of the edit suite.  Kid Koala (Eric) and his fellow Slew creator Dynomite D (Dylan J Frombach) put excerpts on Koala’s last album but otherwise nothing might ever have been heard of the music.   A chance meeting with the former rhythm section of Aussie waist-coat wearing rockers Wolfmother led to them hearing and loving this lost rock nugget.  The rest is as they say history and now the Rhythm section will meet Koala and six turntables on the road – for one time only.
