As I write, my fence has relocated one garden along during what passes as a massive storm in Britain (apologies to those countries for whom this is a brief gust). So it’s probably best that you don’t take any chances – even if you’re not in the UK – take the day off, settle down and listen to 4 or 5 hours of the best new music this week.
There seems to be a particularly rich vein of hip-hop around at the moment (or perhaps it’s just Scroobius Pip’s X-fm show highlighting it) and there are corkers below from Vic Mensa, Rhymesayers, an oldie (but new to me) from Insomniax, Young Fathers, a briefly reunited Organized confusion, Sha Prince and Eminem returns to show off Daddy Freddy-esque lightning speed. The actual Daddy Freddy turns up on a bit of Panda Dub reggae too.
You can follow me on Soundcloud or Whyd for more weekly(ish) selections although with the various platforms its sometimes hard to pull all the sounds together into one playlist. Whyd allows videos, mp3’s and soundcloud together in one list (70+ tracks this week) while Soundcloud has 50+ available. Unfortunately Bandcamp tunes and ‘exclusives’ for Murdoch owned websites, like Teeth of the Sea’s new one can’t be included in my playlists (listen to Reaper here).
Anyway enough waffle, batten down the hatches and enjoy the Whyd and Soundcloud playlists below.
