After the quietest period in this blogs history I’m back with over sixty of the finest musical gems from the last month or so.

PLAYLISTS
There are three playlist to choose from (some tracks aren’t available on Spotify & Soundcloud)
For weekly updates, subscribe to my new music playlist on Spotify or listen to the monthly roundup on

Some highlights this month (show some love for these tracks over on the Hype Machine):

DJ KHALAB AND BABA SISSOKO – KUMU

The first fruits of an unexpected collaboration between Italian ‘Afro-Futurist beatmaker’ Khalab and revered Malian musician and Griot, Baba Sissoko. Culled from their forthcoming eponymous LP, “Kumu” is a remarkable slice of haunting minimal house complete with ethereal effects, the beguiling West African vocals and what sounds like the bath left running in the background.

NITTY SCOTT MC – “GENERATION NOW”

Please wipe your feet before you enter my mind
I’m bear foot sitting in the lotus, focus on my kundalini have you taken notice

After turning 25 and splitting from her management team, Nitty Scott, MC returns with a video for “Generation Now,” from her 2014 project ‘The Art of Chill’.
The videos YouTube comments may focus on the physical more than the metaphysical but it’s a socially conscious song that finds Nitty hovering over the planet, lotus like as she contemplates the nature of life.
Oh and it samples a staple of my youth, “Pass The Dutchie” by Musical Youth (which in turn was a cover/sample of The Mighty Diamonds “Pass The Kouchie” and U Brown’s “Gimme The Music“).

PADDY HANNA – UNDERPROTECTED

Grand Pocket Orchestra frontman Paddy Hanna is set to release his second single, ‘Underprotected’ via Trout Records.

Part of the Dublin scene that spawned Girl Band – who he recently supported on their Irish tour – as well as his Trout label mates O Emperor and Saint Sister, Hanna’s songwriting calls to mind Elvis Costello at his lovesick, literate best, as well as the rickety genre-spanning of Ezra Furman.

MIZAN – 7 BILLION

SECRET RENDEZVOUS – HOMIE. LOVER. FRIEND.

“Hey guys, hope you’re well!
We are really excited to share with you our new single
Homie. Lover. Friend.
We hope you like it as much as we do!”

DEAD PLAYERS – “CALL US NOW”

Brand new official video for first single ‘Call Us Now’ by Dead Players, taken from their highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Freshly Skeletal’ released on High Focus Records on the 26th of October 2015 on CD, limited edition vinyl & digital. The Dead Players are MC’s Jam Baxter and Dabbla with GhostTown on production, their new LP ‘Freshly Skeletal’ features Ocean Wisdom, Lee Scott, Orifice Vulgatron (Foreign Beggars), Sox & Illaman.

DANNY SANCHEZ – “RIGHT NOW”

FRANKO – Coller La Petite
